Petrochemical Case Studies – Flange Joint Water Leakage

Challenge

Bolted flange joint leaks have always been a common problem, and although this has improved over the years with better gasket materials, the problem is still very much in existence. A bolted flange joint leak occurs when the materials contained in the system escape through the gasket pores or around the gasket and flange face. The cause of this is usually because the load on the gasket has fallen below its minimum seal pressure. This could be due to any type of internal issue.
