Leak Detection Technology:
Moisture Meter
A moisture meter is used for measuring moisture levels in materials like drywall, wood and concrete. Identifying dampness can locate hidden leaks, map water damage, and prevent mould growth.
Pin-type and pinless moisture meters are specialised instruments used to measure the moisture content within building materials.
How It Works
The surface is scanned for temperature variations using either a pin-type or pinless moisture meter, depending on the material and inspection requirements.
Pin-type meters insert probes into the material to send a small electrical current to measure resistance. Pinless meters use electromagnetic sensors to scan and measure moisture in larger areas without any damage.
Finally, the collected moisture readings are analysed to create a “moisture map” to determine the presence and severity of the water damage.
Key Benefits
Non-destructive method available
Ideal in damage assessment
Cost Savings & Minimal downtime
Confirms hidden moisture
Moisture meters provide various options to detect water dampness and prevent leaks from ever taking place.
Why Professional Expertise Matters
Moisture readings vary depending on the material type, density and temperature. A good professional will select the ideal meter type (pin or pinless) and interpret readings accurately.
Without proper assessment, moisture levels may be inaccurate, leading to additional damage and costs.
