A wet vent is a drain or waste pipe that also serves as a vent for one or more fixtures in a plumbing system. It allows air to enter the system, preventing the siphoning of water seals in traps while simultaneously carrying wastewater. Wet venting is a space-saving method often used in residential plumbing for toilets, sinks, or bathtubs, reducing the need for separate vent pipes. Proper installation and sizing of wet vents are crucial to maintaining adequate airflow, preventing clogs, and complying with plumbing codes.
