Type M tube is a standard classification for copper tubing defined by its wall thickness, which is thinner than Type K or L copper tubes. It is typically used in residential plumbing for hot and cold water distribution, heating systems, and some low-pressure applications. Type M tubes are marked with a red color code and are lightweight, making them easier to handle and install. While suitable for many residential applications, they are not recommended for underground or high-pressure installations. Proper cutting, cleaning, and joining methods, such as soldering or compression fittings, ensure secure and leak-proof connections with Type M tubing.
