A jetport, also known as a hydro-jet dip tube, is a component in a water heater designed to create turbulence within the tank, enhancing the mixing and heating of water. The jetport’s design includes a series of small openings that allow incoming cold water to enter the tank in a swirling pattern, which helps distribute heat more evenly and reduces sediment buildup at the bottom of the tank. This turbulence not only improves water heating efficiency but also minimizes the potential for sediment-related damage to the tank or heating elements. Regular maintenance of the jetport, such as flushing the tank to remove sediment, is crucial to ensure optimal performance and prolong the lifespan of the water heater.
