A face plate is a trim piece found behind a single-control wall-mounted plumbing fixture, such as a shower or tub faucet, concealing the rough plumbing connections and providing a finished look. It serves both an aesthetic and functional purpose, covering the access hole in the wall and preventing water from entering the wall cavity. Face plates are commonly made from materials like chrome-plated brass, stainless steel, or plastic, offering corrosion resistance and easy maintenance. In addition to showers and tubs, face plates are used for faucets, spigots, and other wall-mounted fixtures. Proper installation ensures a watertight seal and maintains the fixture’s appearance, preventing leaks and potential damage to the wall.
