An eductor is a device that uses a nozzle and throat configuration to create a vacuum, enabling the mixing, suction, or transfer of fluids, solids, or gases. In plumbing and water treatment, eductors are often used for chemical dosing, water aeration, or cleaning processes. The eductor works by forcing water or another motive fluid through a constricted nozzle, creating a pressure drop that draws in and mixes the secondary fluid with the motive fluid. Eductors are commonly used in applications like water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, and irrigation systems, providing an efficient way to mix chemicals or aerate water without requiring additional pumps. Proper sizing and installation of eductors ensure effective performance and prevent issues like clogging or inadequate mixing.
