BX cable, also known as armored cable or AC cable, is a type of electrical cable with a metallic sheath that provides added protection for the wires inside. The cable consists of insulated wires enclosed in a flexible steel or aluminum casing, making it more durable and resistant to damage than non-metallic cables. In plumbing, BX cable is often used for powering pumps, water heaters, and other electrically-driven plumbing equipment, especially in areas where the cable may be exposed to physical stress. The metallic sheath also acts as a grounding path, enhancing safety in electrical systems. BX cable is commonly used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, particularly where additional mechanical protection is required.
