An angle stop is a type of shut-off valve installed between water supply pipes and a plumbing fixture, such as a sink, toilet, or dishwasher. It is called an angle stop because of its 90-degree bend, which allows it to be placed in confined spaces, such as behind a sink or under a toilet. The angle stop enables homeowners or plumbers to quickly turn off the water supply to a specific fixture without shutting off the water to the entire building. It is particularly useful during repairs or emergencies, minimizing water damage and making maintenance easier. Angle stops come in various sizes and materials, including brass, chrome, and plastic, to suit different plumbing needs and aesthetics. They are operated manually and can have either a compression or threaded connection.
