Americast is a patented material developed by American Standard, primarily used for manufacturing bathtubs and kitchen sinks. It combines a layer of porcelain enamel with a composite backing, offering the look and feel of cast iron without the weight or cost. The Americast process uses a three-layer construction: a porcelain enamel top layer for a smooth, glossy finish; a layer of structural composite for strength and heat retention; and a reinforcement backing that makes the material lightweight yet durable. This design makes Americast tubs and sinks easier to install, more resistant to chips and cracks, and better at retaining heat, providing a warmer bathing experience. Additionally, Americast products are known for their sound-dampening properties, which reduce noise from running water. It is a popular choice for residential bathrooms and kitchens due to its balance of durability, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness.
