An air lock refers to a blockage in a liquid flow system caused by trapped air. This problem often occurs in plumbing, heating systems, and pumps, disrupting the normal flow of water or other liquids. Air locks are common in systems where liquid flow is gravity-fed or where pumps are used to circulate fluids. They can reduce efficiency, create noise, and cause erratic behavior in the system. To resolve air locks, methods like bleeding the air from the system, increasing the pressure, or using an air release valve are employed. Regular maintenance and proper installation can prevent air locks and ensure the smooth operation of the system.
